What's Up
The Penny Drive is coming – Next week will be the Brown Deer Scholarship penny drive taking place during the lunch periods Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Homeroom jars will be placed in the commons in which you will put your change. The winning homeroom gets a donut breakfast on April 15th. All of the proceeds will go toward awarding scholarships to deserving 2010 seniors for their post-secondary education plans.
Brown Deer Scholarship Information
This is the 34th year that the Brown Deer Community Scholarship Fund has solicited donations from Brown Deer residents. Since 1977 these donations have provided scholarships totaling $790,846 to 1037 Brown Deer High School graduates attending accredited universities and technical colleges. Last year the Brown Deer Scholarship Fund granted twenty $1,500 scholarships to the Class of 2009 based on their demonstrated scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and participation in activities.
This year’s Door to Door campaign is scheduled for April 17 – April 25. The number of scholarships and scholarship award amount depends upon contributions collected in a particular year. Your tax deductible contributions can be made by mailing a check made out to Brown Deer Scholarship Fund to:

Brown Deer Scholarship Application Information
The Brown Deer Scholarship Fund is pleased to make available on-line the application for the community scholarship. The application is available for download by eligible graduating students from the Brown Deer High School Class of 2010. Eligible seniors need to participate in the Brown Deer Scholarship Door to Door campaign in both their Junior and Senior years. Please complete the application and return all materials to the Brown Deer High School guidance office by May 3, 2010 at 3:15pm. The application can be found under the Graduation Information tab/Graduation forms.

We Want Our Brown Deer Voice Heard!
If you are a student of color, please consider participating in the North Shore Consortium Research Project:
Small groups of 4-5 students meet with a UWM researcher for approximately one class period during the school day.

Groups meet in a conference room or empty classroom.
The researcher will ask students to talk about their experiences and perceptions of high school.
No district teachers or administrators are involved in the interviews and they will not have access to the interview transcripts.
The goals of the study are:
- to identify successful and unsuccessful relationships, events, and policies in the schools.
- to identify resources and experiences that support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth.
- to identify policies, events, school practices that are barriers to student learning.
Students need parental permission to participate. Simply print a copy of the form, fill it out, get it signed and turn it in to Mrs. Holmes in the Guidance Office.

BD Athletic Booster Club

Would you like to join an organization that helps all athletes in the school? Then come and join the Athletic Booster Club where it all happens. BDHS School Hours
Regular school hours are from 8:05 am - 3:07 pm. Students may enter the building via the main entrance at 7:40 a.m., no student will be allowed to enter the building prior to 7:40 a.m. unless accompanied by a staff member. Please call 414-371-7020 for attendance issues. Office hours are 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
